Why Refined Research?
Unlike standard English editing services, Refined Research combines expertise in scientific communication with deep domain knowledge in epidemiology. With over 10 years of experience in research and publishing, I can go beyond correcting words and grammar to improve scientific clarity and precision.
Key differentiators include:
Content-aware editing:

I understand the science behind your text, so I can clarify complex concepts, strengthen arguments, and ensure coherence across methods, results, and interpretation.
Methodological insight:

I provide constructive suggestions on study design, data presentation, and interpretation — guidance that standard English editors typically cannot offer.
Experienced, human-driven editing:

All corrections and improvements rely on my professional experience in scientific writing and publishing, without relying on AI tools for proofreading.
Tailored to your audience:

Whether for academic journals or general readers, your text will be precise, clear, and professionally presented.

At Refined Research, the goal is not just to correct language, but to enhance the scientific impact of your work.

About
Dr. Courtney Dow

I am an epidemiologist and scientific editor with over 10 years of experience in academic research and publishing. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Physiology, a Master of Public Health, a PhD in Epidemiology, and a Graduate Certificate in Food, Nutrition, and Health, earned through academic training in Canada, France, and Ireland.

I have published in peer-reviewed journals, presented research at international conferences, and regularly serve as a peer reviewer for scientific journals. This experience allows me to support researchers with scientific clarity, methodological rigor, and effective communication, beyond language correction alone.

My mother tongue is English, and I am fluent in French, which allows me to provide high-quality French–English translation and editing services tailored to academic and general audiences.
My goal is to strengthen research without altering its scientific voice.
